PURPOSE: To contrive the improvement of storage efficiency by enabling an article loading plate to be moved passing each storage space by a pinion and a rack, supported by a shaft parallel with an XY plane and being able to turn a predetermined angle in the same plane, in the case of a storage device in a garage or the like.

CONSTITUTION: For instance, when a car is stored in storage space (c), the car is placed on an empty plate P loaded on an elevator 3, and the plate P is moved to empty storage space (e). Here the elevator 3 and a pinion 10M of the storage space (e) are directed toward a direction Y, while also a meshed turning rack 42R is directed toward the direction Y. The plate P is moved to the space (e) by a rack 42X. Next a plate 40 of space (h) is moved onto the elevator 3, subsequently a plate of space (f) is moved to the space (h). Thus the plate is moved successively emptying the space serving as the passage. By this constitution, the necessity for particularly providing a moving passage is eliminated.
