Abstract:
To provide a storage system capable of maintaining desired service quality even if automatic hierarchy control is performed to an external storage device.SOLUTION: A storage system 1 is connected to a cloud system 2 for providing cloud volumes 22, 23 that belong to one of multiple hierarchies having different access performance. The cloud system 2 changes a hierarchy to which an externally provided volume belongs on the basis of a volume utilization situation for utilizing the cloud volumes 22, 23. A storage controller 17 of the storage system 1 provides a host computer 3 with a volume 11 in which pages are allocated to an external volume corresponding to the cloud volumes 22, 23. The storage controller 17 controls hierarchies to which the cloud volumes 22, 23 belong by adjusting a volume utilization situation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
