To provide a storage type water heater suppressing generation of intermediate temperature water in a hot water storage tank, and suppressing flow-in of low temperature water to a bathtub at the start-up of reheating.
The storage type water heater includes: a means performing stored hot water-using reheating operation of sending high temperature water stored in the hot water storage tank 5 to a reheating heat exchanger 9 as heat source water; a means performing the heat pump-using reheating operation of sending heat source water boiled up in a boiling up heat exchanger 18 of a heat pump unit 300 to a reheating heat exchanger 9 without passing through the hot water storage tank 5; and a low temperature water flow-in prevention controlling means performing control of preventing flow-in of bathtub water, lowered in temperature in the reheating heat exchanger 9, into the bathtub 13 at the initial period of starting the heat pump-using reheating operation. The low temperature water flow-in prevention controlling means stops a bathtub circulation pump 12 during the starting initial period of the heat pump unit 300 when starting the heat pump-using reheating operation, and then the drive of the bathtub circulation pump 12 is started.
