To prevent high temperature hot water from being unexpectedly delivered by rapidly detecting a failure or erroneous wiring and operating a heater to a safe side when failure or erroneous wiring occur.
This storage water heater comprises a hot water mixing valve 21 mixing hot water from a hot water storage tank 11 with water and supplying the mixed hot water, a hot water temperature sensor 23 detecting hot water temperature, a hot water pipe circuit formed of a hot water flow sensor 22 detecting a hot water flow, a bath mixing valve 31 filling up a bath with hot water by mixing hot water from the hot water storage tank 11 with water, a bath fill-up temperature sensor 33 detecting the bath fill-up temperature, a bath fill-up pipe circuit formed of a bath flow sensor 32 detecting the bath fill-up flow and a hot water filling valve 34, and a control device 41 controlling the hot water temperatures of the hot water supply pipe circuit and the bath fill-up circuit. Also, when either of the temperature sensors detects a hot water temperature higher by a specified temperature than a set temperature, the control device 41 determines that the heater is defective, and controls both mixing valves 21 and 31 to the water side.
