To provide a storage water heater that can inhibit deposition of scale inside a heating means after reheating operation using the heating means in which operation a circulation channel is formed that connects the heating means and a reheating heat exchanger such that high-temperature water boiled by the heating means is transferred to the reheating heat exchanger, while capable of reliably suppressing an abnormal temperature rise in the reheating heat exchanger.
The storage water heater includes: an operation controlling means which performs cooling operation for cooling the heating means (the heat exchanger 18 for reheating) by circulating water in the reheating circulation channel using the heating means due to the driving of a heat source pump 3 after the reheating operation using the heating means has finished; and a temperature rise inhibiting means which controls to inhibit a temperature rise in the reheating heat exchanger 9 when a temperature in the reheating heat exchanger 9 is determined or predicted to exceed a predetermined temperature during the cooling operation.
