Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a display from an area having a map in vector form to a map in raster form, to continuously scroll its reverse, or to perform continuous enlargement from a scale having the map in vector format to a scale having the map in raster format.
SOLUTION: A data file 10 of map data is composed of 12 layers from a layer 1 corresponding to a 1/5,120,000 scale to a layer 12 corresponding to a 1/2,500 scale, the data of the respective layers are so constituted that drawing sheet can be displayed, and each drawing sheet data part is given an identifier indicating the vector format (identifier V) or raster format (identifier R). The layer 12 is divided into a map data part in vector format and map data in raster format and the division ranges of the drawing sheet data parts of both the format of the layer 12 are made equal in size.
