Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed for a storing/retrieving device for picture information, by storing, retriveing and reading the picture information based on the index information. CONSTITUTION:The document equivalent to a page is read by the photoelectric transducer 4 and stored in the page buffer 15. At the same time, the index code (features of document) is stored in the memory 11a from the input device 2, and the track No. and block No. of the magnetic tape 6 to store the document are stored in the memory 11a. Then the document is stored on the tape 6 through the page buffer 13. With an input of the index code through the device 2, the index information including the index code is read out of the memory 11a. Then the document is retrieved out of the tape 6 based on the track No. and block No. in the index information, and then stored in the buffer 15 to be recorded to the recorder 5. As a result, the document information can be read in a quick and assured way and regardless of the relative speed between the magnetic head and the recording medium of tape 6.
