To uniform stoking layout and optimize a warehousing/delivery time by comparing vacant shelf factors of a rack calculated by a control computer with each other, primarily selecting a rack, deriving an average in-rack storing time by calculation, and determining a rack for which the time is minimum as the rack for storing.
By comparing vacant shelf factor of a rack calculated by a control computer with each other for a load entered from a stoking station 4, a candidate storing rack is primarily selected. Then, an average in-rack storing time is calculated by a given calculation formula, and a rack 7 for which the average in-rack storing time is minimum is determined as a storing rack 7. A storing conveyer 5 is controlled by a conveyer control panel 2 so as to carry the load to the rack 7. A stacker crane 6, receiving a finishing signal showing the load reaches a storing entrance, conveys it to a given shelf. As a shelf specifying method in the determined rack, a block nearest the storing entrance is selected, shelf data in the block is searched, and then a storing shelf is determined.
