PURPOSE: To enable a straight fluorescent lamp to be mounted on fittings without unpacking, and to facilitate removing a packing cover from the mounted lamp.

CONSTITUTION: A packaging cover 2 is a cylinder with a radius slightly larger than a straight fluorescent lamp 1, being provided with two parallel lines of perforations 3 in the lengthwise direction and a lead part 4. The lamp 1 can be mounted on sockets 5 without removing packing cover 5. After the lamp 1 is mounted, the lead part 4 of the perforations 3 is pulled to remove the cover 2. For removing the cover 2, no checking of the surrounding is needed, nor a wide space is required. This reduces a risk of damaging the surrounding apparatus by bumping when removing the lamp 1, and prevents injury on hands should the lamp 1 be damaged during transport or mounting.
