The straightening device for the tatami mat is equipped with a measuring means for measuring a measuring signal proportional to an orthogonal distance from a reference straight line Ld set for the side, directed to the outside of a room, of the tatami mat, so as to transmit the measuring signal to the control part 15; the control part 15 captures orthogonal distance data for a bent part from the measuring signal proportional to the orthogonal distance from the reference straight line Ld to a half-mat position of a bent line drawn by the side, directed to the outside of the room, of the tatami mat; orthogonal reference data from the reference straight line Ld to a virtual straight line Li connecting the sewing-starting direction and sewing-finishing direction of the side, directed to the outside of a room, of the tatami mat are subtracted from the orthogonal distance data, so that data on irregularities of a half mat can be computed; and a track of a cut-off part 17 along the bent line, which is drawn by the side, directed to the outside of the room, of the tatami mat, is computed on the basis of the data on the irregularities. The tatami mat manufacturing apparatus 1 is equipped with the straightening device.
