PURPOSE: To provide a straightness measuring instrument which can easily and accurately measure the straightness of an object to be measured.
CONSTITUTION: A piano wire 3 is nearly horizontally stretched above a frame 2 and a moving table 11 is provided above the frame 2 so that the table 11 can move along the wire 3. A video measure 14 which detects the size of a gap between an object H supported in nearly parallel with the wire 3 and the wire 3 is provided on the table 11. In addition, a computer 18 which calculates the deviation between the straight line passing both end sections of the side to be measured of the object H and the side to be measured based on the detecting data of the measure 14 when the table 11 is moved along the wire 3 is also provided.
