Title:
STRAIN GAUGE PROTECTIVE DEVICE AND TENSION SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3427173
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strain gauge protective device which has a superior weather resistance and can well protect a strain gauge against winds, rains, and objects coming flying.
SOLUTION: A strain gauge protective device is constituted in such a way that, after a strain gauge 2 stuck to a hanger l used for overhead transmission line is coated with a rubber coating layer 10 by using the hanger 1 as a strain starting body, the periphery of the layer 10 is covered with a thin cover 11 (having a thickness of about 1 mm) composed of austenitic stainless steel and free pieces 19 and 22 of the side plates of the cover 11 are elastically brought into contact with the surface of the hanger 1. In addition, a protective layer 12 is formed by filling up the inside of the cover 11 with a silicon-based resin so as to protect the gauge 2 from the outside by means of the cover 11, protective layer 12, and coating layer 10 and, at the same time, the sensor accuracy of the gauge 2 is secured by assuring the movement of the strain starting body by causing the free pieces 19 and 22 of the cover 11 to follow the expansion and contract of the hanger 1.
