Title:
STRATIFIED COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6361711
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve ignitionability and combustibility remarkably by providing a closing valve for fuel injection in front of a fuel injection valve so as to face to a combustion chamber, and a pressurized air injection nozzle to feed the pressurized air into the combustion chamber.

CONSTITUTION: An engine 1 has a combustion chamber 5 formed between a piston 3 and a cylinder head 4. A closing valve 13 for fuel injection is provided in front of a fuel injection valve 14 so as to face to said chamber 5. A pressurized air injection nozzle 15 is provided in the rear of said closing valve 13. In a low load operating range, the fuel is injected through the fuel injection valve 14 at the end of a compression stroke, and the pressurized air is supplied through said injection nozzle 15. Thus a rich mixture can be effectively stratified near an ignition plug 12 to improve ignitionability and combustibility remarkably.
