PURPOSE: To provide a straw having a good appearance and a high quality sense by a method wherein a straw body is formed of alight permeable plastics and fluorescent dye, so that direct light and diffused light from surroundings are absorbed and fluorescence is radiated from an edge part.
CONSTITUTION: Fluorescence is transmitted to an edge part 2 of a straw body 1 by an entire reflection, so that it is radiated from the edge part 2. Supposing that photon of 100 collides, 25% is radiated outward of a plate member 10, and of 75% of light passing through the plate member, 20 to 30% is absorbed by dye, and about 40% of photon is transmitted to an edge part of the plate member 10, from which it is radiated. In order to radiate specially strong fluorescence form the edge part, it is necessary to maximize light absorption and radiation by the fluorescent dye, and for this purpose, it is necessary to minimize overlapping of absorbed light and emitted light. Accordingly, it is necessary to employ light collecting resin in which the maximum value of wavelength of the absorbed light and the maximum value of wavelength of the emitted light are mutually apart, for example, LISA-plastics manufactured by Bayer AG.
