To obtain a stretchable towel cloth having each prescribed elongation and stretch recovery factor, capable of being stably wound around the body and excellent in drying properties and durability by using specific spun yarns as ground yarns in the warp direction, etc., and water-absorbing yarns as pile yarns.
This stretchable towel cloth having ≥10% elongation and ≥70% elastic recovery factor is obtained by using spun yarns including ≥55wt.% polyester-based eccentric conjugated fibers obtained, by eccentrically combining (A) a copolyester consisting essentially of ethylene terephthalate unit and including 1-3mol% constituting unit having metal sulfonate group and 2-10mol% isophthalic acid as copolymerizing components with (B) a copolyester having shrinkage lower than that of the component A as ground yarns in the warp and/or weft directions, and water-absorbing yarns as pile yarns. The amount of the spun yarns included in the stretchable towel cloth is preferably 10-70wt.%.
