Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of fixing an article to a foot by quickly closing the article.SOLUTION: A reel for tightening an article includes a housing 840 and a spool 850 located in the housing 840. The spool 850 is caused to rotate in the housing 840 to thereby wind a tension member around the center post of the spool 850, and therefore, a knob 802 is coupled with the spool 850. A load holding mechanism is coupled with the spool 850 and the housing 840, and includes a first friction element and a second friction element being friction engageable so as to prevent the spool 850 from rotating in a second direction to prevent the tension member from being fed from the center post of the spool 850. Rotation of the knob 802 in the first direction reduces the frictional engagement of the friction elements to allow the rotation of the spool 850 in the first direction, and the tension of the tension member causes the spool 850 to rotate in the second direction to increase the frictional engagement of the friction elements.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8B
