PURPOSE: To execute piercing and heading of the end face of a work by the first die, by providing a detaining arm engaged to the rear face in the axial direction of the work so as to be interlocked with a finger on a shunting position of the side of the first die.

CONSTITUTION: When a ram advances, the first punch pushes a work (a) into a hole 5 of the first die 3 and a die pin 6 forms a pierced hole on the rear face of the work (a). While the ram moves backward, the work (a) is pushed out to the front of the first die 3 by an advance of the die pin 6, and a finger 18 is closed and inserts and holds the work (a). As a pipe shaft 11 turns, a driving arm 42 oscillates, the tip part of a detaining arm 42 goes into the rear face of the work (a) and it is fitted to a projecting part 7 of the die pin 6. When the die pin 6 moves backward, a detaining arm 39 collides with the rear face of the work (a), and the work (a) is separated from the pin 6. According to this method, piercing of the rear face of the work (a) can be executed by the first die 3.
