PURPOSE: To prevent a power source battery from being consumed unnecessarily by completing additional charging in a time shorter than a 1st charging time when it is decided that a charging voltage reaches a specific value yet.
CONSTITUTION: After the state of a switching means which is operated prior to photography is changed, a microcomputer MPS discriminates the charging voltage of the main capacitor Ci of a photometory circuit LM for a stroboscopic device by a discriminating means and actuates the boosting circuit of a stroboscopic circuit AUX when the charging voltage does not reach the specific value to charge the capacitor and further carry on the charging for the 1st specific time (2 - 5 seconds) even after the voltage reaches the specific value. When the decided charging voltage reaches the specific value, the charging is carried on for a 2nd time shorter than the 1st specific time. Consequently, the additional charging for obtaining the sufficient quantity of light emission is completed in the short time to prevent the power source battery from being wasted.
