To provide a structural member that can be reduced in weight and increased in strength by configuring the member by bending a metal plate with press work.
The structural member is formed in a cylinder by bending the metal plate with press work. Its cross-sectional shape includes: a main wall part 12 located near the center of the metal plate; a pair of curved parts continued from both ends of the main wall part; a pair of opposing side wall parts 14 continued from the respective curved parts; lid-like parts 16 of which each end is continued from the respective side wall parts 14 and which are each formed by bending it so that a joining edge 24 is butted with the other joining edge; and a pair of inclined parts 18 which is continued from the joining edge 24 of the respective lid-like parts 16 and of which an end edge 26 reaches at near the corresponding curved part by being bent at an acute angle.
