To provide a structure around an engine hood lock improving the safety in the collision and relatively facilitating the construction by mitigating a collision energy reducing the reaction of returning a latch by over-stroking an engine hood further than the ordinary closing position in acting an impact force, and mitigating the impact force by forming the engine hood to low rigidity.
This engine hood 10 comprising an engine hood outer panel 11 and an engine hood inner panel 12 is ordinarily retained into a closed state by a lock mechanism 1, however, in case of applying a large external force thereon, a striker 2 of the lock mechanism 1 is so constituted as to over-stroke, so that the reaction of returning the latch is reduced and consequently the collision energy is absorbed. The engine hood 10 is formed into the relatively low rigidity so that the impact force is mitigated. This constitution can improve the safety. It is also formed of a simple structure to use no special other members.
