PURPOSE: To obtain a cheap and reliable engine cylinder, by laminating metal members and ceramic members in the axial direction of the engine cylinder while they are inclined at a certain angle with respect to the axis, thereby the engine cylinder is formed.

CONSTITUTION: Ring-like ceramic plates 3 and ring-like metal plates 4 are alternately laminated and stuck together to form a laminated body 1. An outer metal cylinder 2 is casted or fitted onto the outer periphery of the laminated body 1. In such a condition that the ceramic plates and the metal plates are laminated and secured together with the use of the outer metal cylinder for back-up, the laminated body is inclined at a certain angle with respect to the axis of the cylinder. With this arrangement, a cheap and reliable cylinder may be obtained.
