Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a structure for fitting a exhaust pipe with an electrically heatable catalyst support which can keep sealability and absorb thermal expansion without using bellows.

CONSTITUTION: Electrodes 1, 19 are rigidly fixed to an outer cylinder 4 through insulating members 2, 18 for keeping sealability. A catalyst support 8 capable of being electrically heated is supported on the electrodes 1, 19 through stress absorption electrode plates 6, 15 which are deformable in a diameter direction, for absorbing thermal expansion. It is thus possible, being different from bellows, to rigidly support the catalyst support 8, and suppress occurrence of problems such as leakage of exhaust gas which may be caused by breakage of bellows.
