PURPOSE: To expand a color design range by making it possible to develop only the light of an intended wavelength range as interference light by setting the depth of each of the recessed parts of the unevenness provided to a surface to a specific range and making the width of each recessed part same to or less than the depth.

CONSTITUTION: The depth of each of the recessed parts of the unevenness provided to a surface is set to 0.2 - 0.4μm and the width of each recessed part is made same to or less than the depth thereof. For example, grooves 9 are provided to the surface 8 of a material 7. The hue of the material 7 is made blackish blue and each of the grooves 9 is formed so that the width thereof is about 0.2μm and the depth thereof is about 0.22μm and the pitch between the grooves 9 is set to 0.5μm and the surface 8 and the bottom surface 10 of each of the grooves 9 are set to about 0.02μm in roughness. The surface shows a gloomy dark blue color as a whole but the interference color of a blue region of 0.44 - 0.46μm is looked so as to be lifted out of the part of an angle seeing the bottom surface 10 of each groove 9. The grooves 9 are obtained by a photolighographic process and, by obtaining a replica using the grooves as a master, for example, the use as a mold for injection molding, casting or compression molding becomes possible.
