Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light and highly rigid structure.
SOLUTION: A hollow structural member is formed by joining two face plates 11 and 12 (21 and 22) with ribs 13, 13A, and 13B (23, 23A and 23B) in the form of a trussed structure. The end of one hollow structural member 10 is joined with a rib 13A used for forming a trussed structure. The face plate 21 of the other hollow structural member 20 is jointed near at the summit of the truss of the hollow structural member 10. The face plate of the hollow structural member 10 is joined near the summit of the truss of the other hollow structural member 20. A load is supported by the ribs 13A and 23B (23A and 23B) during the friction stirring joining. The whole structure becomes a trussed structure resulting in a light weighted structure with a high rigidity.
