To prevent occurrence of crack by harmonizing flexural rigidity of a header and a stacked section.
In a plate fin heat exchanger comprising high pressure layers 10 for passing high pressure fluid and low pressure layers 11 for passing low pressure fluid stacked alternately, the high pressure layer comprises two isolation plates, a core section sandwiched between, and oblique cross flow sections on the left and right thereof. Two isolation plates are bonded on the periphery thereof and the low pressure layer comprises a core section 2 sandwiched by the isolation plates of adjacent high pressure layers and oblique cross flow sections 3 on the left and right thereof communicating with the outside. A header 4 penetrates the oblique cross flow sections on the left and right to retain each stack and both headers are interconnected in each high pressure layer. In a heat exchanger having such a structure, rigidity is harmonized between a reinforcing plate 4b in the header and each stack in the stacking direction.
