In a support structure for the spindle of a measuring device, the spindle 11 is installed at a body case 1 so as to be displaceable to its axial direction. In the support structure, a total of four or more bearings 12, 13, 14, 15 are arranged and installed in two places separated in the axial direction of the spindle 11 and on both sides so as to sandwich the spindle 11. The spindle 11 is supported so as to be movable to its axial direction. The bearings 12, 14, on one side, which sandwich the spindle 11 out of the bearings 12, 13, 14, 15 are constituted of grooved bearings which have grooves coupled to the outer surface of the spindle 11.
