Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the leak of an operating fluid from tip sections of turbine rotor blades and improve the flow performance efficiency of a turbine by providing brushes made of inorganic fibers on the outer periphery surfaces of shrouds fitted at tips of the circularly arranged turbine rotor blades. CONSTITUTION:Tip sections of adjacent turbine rotor blades 3 are connected to each other by shrouds 2. Brushes 1 buried with many tassels made of inorganic fibers are formed on the outer periphery surface sections of the shrouds 2. Several tassels made of fibers are combined into bundles like a hair brush and inserted into small holes bored on shroud surfaces, and they are fixed by an adhesive with high heat resistance. Fibers of the brushes 1 have a small diameter to the allowable extent for the fiber strength to make them slender like cilia, and their length is made nearly a gap between tip sections of the rotor blades 3 and an outer casing. The brushes 1 are uniformly fitted over the width of the shrouds 2, and they are arranged so as to be overlapped in many layers as observed from the axial direction of the turbine.
