Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove ink adhering to the surrounding of a nozzle face sufficiently by providing an open groove and a grooved flat plate having a channel connected to the open groove and joining a flat plate to the side of the grooved flat plate that has the groove.
SOLUTION: The wiper 1 is provided with an open groove 4a and a grooved flat plate 1a having a channel 2a connected to the open groove 4a, and a flat plate 1b is joined to the side of the grooved flat plate 1a that has a groove. The grooved flat plate 1a uses an ink-phobic material of low ink absorptiveness, silicon, EPDM or rubber, for instance, and the flat plate 1b uses an ink- absorptive porous body. As the grooved flat plate 1a contacts the ink jet nozzle face, the use of an ink-phobic material prevents ink that is scraped off from staying on the wiper and ink coat from being formed. Ink that enters the open groove 4a flows down to the lower part from the upper part of the channel 2a and is sucked by a vacuum suction pump 6 through a tube 5a.
