To provide a strut type suspension capable of realizing a light weight and a high rigidity of a damper outer cylinder and provided with the damper outer cylinder having a simple and cheap constitution.

The strut type suspension for vehicle is provided with a damper to which an axle support member is bonded and which supports a spring. A damper outer cylinder 1 is provided with a light weighed portion 1b supporting a spring; a high rigid portion 1a bonded to the axle support member; and a transition portion 1c which connects the light weighed portion 1b and the high rigid portion 1a and of which shape is gently varied between them.
