Title:
STUDLESS TIRE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3079026
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the resistance to localized wear of a studless tire while keeping its running performance on icy roads.
SOLUTION: In a block-patterned tire, on the tread of which block lines R1... each consisting of blocks 3 spaced apart from one another along the circumferential direction of the tire are formed, each of the block 3B, 3C includes a constricted part 4 where the block width along the direction of the tire axis is at its minimum, a prior-land side broadened part 6 where the block width increases from the constricted part 4 toward a prior-land edge 5 located on the prior-to-land side along the circumferential direction of the tire, and a posterior-land side broadened part 9 where the block width increases from the constricted part 4 toward a posterior-land edge 7 located on the posterior- land side along the circumferential direction of the tire, the prior-land and posterior-land edges 5, 7 of each block 3B, 3C being formed approximately parallel to the direction of the tire axis; the block width of the constricted part 4 is not less than 0.5 times and not more than 0.9 times the average edge width obtained by averaging of the block width of the prior-land edge 5 and than of the posterior-land edge 7.
