Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a resin composition containing a styrenic polymer or its copolymer having the syndiotactic structure and a thermoplastic polymer uniformly dispersed therein and a method for efficiently producing the resin composition.
CONSTITUTION: The objective method for producing a styrenic resin composition by (co)polymerizing a styrenic monomer using a catalyst consisting essentially of (A) a transition metal compound component such as a titanium compound, (B) an aluminoxane and (C) a compound component reactive with the transition metal compound forming an ionic complex or (D) an organoaluminum compound. In the process, a thermoplastic polymer in its state dissolved in the styrenic monomer or a hydrocarbon-based solvent is made to coexist. Furthermore, the objective resin composition comprises the styrenic polymer or its copolymer having the syndiotactic structure and the thermoplastic polymer uniformly dispersed therein.
