Abstract:
To obtain a styryl dye capable of exhibiting good optical characteristics and solubility in an optical recording medium and to provide uses thereof.
This styryl dye is represented by the general formula 1 (R1 to R11 denote each independently hydrogen or a suitable substituent group; and X- denotes a negatively charged counter ion). The light absorber, light resistance improver and optical recording medium contain the dye. Furthermore, in the method for producing the styryl dye, a compound capable of imparting a cation of the styryl dye in which an indolenine ring is bound to one end of a dimethine chain is reacted with a compound capable of imparting an anion of an azo organometallic complex.
