PURPOSE: To provide a sub-frame structure for an automobile, which can carry a large diameter transfer gear.

CONSTITUTION: The inner side ends 10 of respective sub-frames 9 which are a right and a left divided frame, are combined with the side surfaces of a transfer gear 8, a steering rack 17 which is laid above the transfer gear 8 along the car lateral direction, is mounted on the upper sections of the inner side ends 10, and the respective right and left sub-frames 9 are connected with each other by a connecting member 20 located below the transfer gear 8 along the car lateral direction.
