Abstract:
To provide a sub-wavelength grating optical element, having a sub-wavelength grating that can always effectively develop its functions.
The sub-wavelength grating optical element has an airtight space, formed by a plurality of bases at least one of which is made of a transparent material, and a sub-wavelength grating for controlling the light disposed on at least one face constituting the airtight space. Since there is the sub-wavelength grating present in the airtight space, damages to projections of the sub-wavelength grating can be prevented, and adherence of water or oil to the sub-wavelength grating can be prevented.
