Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect a subject while suppressing erroneous detection even when detecting the subject from an image of large distortion.SOLUTION: A subject detection apparatus comprises: detection means to detect the area of a predetermined subject from an image; calculation means to calculate an evaluation value relating to the area detected by the detection means; and control means which, when the evaluation value meets a predetermined criteria, determines the area as a predetermined subject. The predetermined criteria is set in accordance with the magnitude of the distortion of the image displayed on display means.
