Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subsidiary chamber type internal combustion engine capable of quickly spreading a flame jet in a main chamber, which is injected from a subsidiary chamber to the main chamber.SOLUTION: A subsidiary chamber type internal combustion engine 10 comprises: a main chamber 15; a subsidiary chamber 23 which is formed with an injection hole 24 communicating with the main chamber 15 and is smoothly reduced in a flow passage sectional area to the injection hole 24; a fuel supply valve 52 supplying fuel into the subsidiary chamber 23; an ignition plug 54 igniting the fuel in the subsidiary chamber 23; and a swirl means swirling gas in the subsidiary chamber 23. The swirl means does not swirl the gas which flows from the main chamber 15 into the subsidiary chamber 23 and swirls the gas which flows out from the subsidiary chamber 23 to the main chamber 15.
