PURPOSE: To suppress microbial propagation in wood, paints, adhesives, paper, leather, plastics, cosmetics and foods using the partially new thioacryloyl compound, which has no problem of toxicity and harmless to the ennvironment.
CONSTITUTION: One or more kinds of thioacryloyl compounds shown by the formula are used as germicide to suppress microbial propagation. When X is H, Y is NH, and Z is H, methoxy, dimethylamine, etc., in the formula, the compounds of the formula are new compounds, e.g. cis-3-thiocyanoethyl acrylate, etc. In the formula, Z is OR, R (R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, etc.; R1R2 (R1, R2 are each alkyl, phenyl, and they form together with adjacent N a ring wherein O may be contained); X is H, halogen, phenyl, etc.; Y is CN, CH (COCH3)2, propargyl, S, O, etc., provided that when Z is NR1R2, Y is CN, and that R is not phenyl when Z is R, X is H, and Y is CN.
