To obtain the subject new compound having antiinflammatory and antiallergic activities, and useful as a medicine or zoomedicine.
This new compound is a substituted 4-(quinolin-2-yl-methoxy) phenylacetic acid derivative (salt) of formula I {R1 is of the formula [R2 is H, an alkyl, of formula II (R4 and R5 are each H, an alkyl, etc.), etc.], etc.; Y is of formula III (R8 is H, an alkyl, etc.; (n) is 0-5); Z is norbornyl, etc.; A and B are each H, a lower alkyl etc.}. This new compound of formula I is obtained by alkylating a 4-(quinolin-2-yl-methoxy)phenylacetic ester of formula IV (R11 is an alkyl) with an alkyl halide of the formula Y-Z-X(X is Cl, Br, etc.) in the molar ratio of the latter to the former of 0.5-5 in the presence of a base in an inert solvent at 0-150 (pref. 10-100)°C under normal pressures; however, for obtaining this new compound of acid type, by hydrolyzing the above ester at 0-100°C under normal pressures.
