PURPOSE: To obtain a novel compound useful for the treatment and prevention of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer disease and neurotoxic injuries associated with ischemic, hypoxia toxicity or hypoglycemic symptoms, especially, a fit of apoplexia because of its ability to bind with a PCP receptor.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a compound of formula I (wherein R1 means one to four substituents being in positions 1-4 and selected among H, hydroxyl, or the like or a condensed benzene ring; R2 is H, cyano, or the like; R3 and R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, or the like; R5 and R6 are each phenyl, a lower alkynyl, or the like; R7 denotes one to four substituents being in positions 7 to 10 and selected among H, nitro, or the like and/or a condensed pyrazole ring; X- is an anion; and (p) is 0 or 1; provided that R7 is other than H, when R1 to R4 are each H, R5 and R6 are each phenyl, and X- is ClO4 or the like), for example, 6,11-ethano-12,12-diphenyl-6,1-dihydrobenzo[b]quinolizinium chloride. This compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a substituted olefin of formula III in an organic solvent such as acetonitrile.
