Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 is methyl, ethyl or propyl; R2 is methyl or methoxy) or its salt.
EXAMPLE: (E)-N-(6,6-dimethyl-2-hepten-4-ynyl)-N-methyl-3-[4-(3-thienyl)-2- thienylmethyloxy]benzylamine.
USE: A remedy and preventive for hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipemia and arteriosclerosis. It selectively inhibits squalene epoxidase and exhibits strong anticholesteric activity.
PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I can he produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Z is eliminable group) preferably in the presence of a base in a solvent (e.g. methylene chloride) at a temperature between -20°C and the boiling point of the solvent.
