To obtain the subject compound without exhibiting undesirable disadvantageous salt diuretic property, useful as a medicine for preventing or treating cardiac infarction, arrhythmia and angina pectoris by reacting a specific compound with guanidine.
This compound is represented by formula I {R(1) is R(6)-CO, R(7)R(8)N-CO [R(6) is a 1-8C (perfluoro)alkyl, 3-8C alkenyl or the like; R(7) and R(8) are each H, a 1-8C (perfluoroalkyl) or the like]; R(2) is same as R(1) or H, OH, F or the like; R(3) to R(5) are each same as R(1) or R(2), with the proviso that at least one is OH}, e.g. 3-acetyl-4-hydroxybenzoylguanidine or the like. Furthermore, the compound is preferably obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with guanidine in aprotic polar (inert) organic solvent such as methanol under the temperature condition from 20°C to a boiling point of the solvent.
