Abstract:
PURPOSE: To dye keratin fiber, particularly human hair in a very interesting bright color tinged with warm or grayish white reflection color by using a substituted monohydroxyindole in combination with an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION: (A) A composition containing a compound of formula I[OH is positioned at any site on the benzene ring; X is a 1-4C alkyl which may be substituted with OH, a halogen, formula II (R4 and R5 are each a 1-4C alkyl); R1 is H, a 1-4C alkyl, R2 and R3 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, carboxyl, an alkoxycarbonyl] or its salt is applied to keratin fiber and the color is developed by the action of (1) an iodide and hydrogen peroxide, (2) a nitrite salt, (3) a metallic salt selected from Mn, Co, Cu and Ag, (4) a rate earth salt. In the case of (1), for example, an iodide ion-containing composition A and a pH 2-12 hydrogen peroxide-containing composition B, or a hydrogen peroxide- containing composition A and a pH 3-11 iodide-containing composition B are combined where B is applied before or after application of A.
