Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject compounds useful for treating hypertension and congestive heart failure and also, for preventing and treating vaso- reconstriction after an angio-plastic operation.
CONSTITUTION: The pyrimidines are compounds represented by formula I (wherein: each of R1 to R4 is H or a 1-6C lower alkyl or 1-6C perfluoroalkyl; R5 is H, or optionally, together with R3, forms a double bond when (n) is 1; (n) is 0 or 1; (p) is an integer of 0 to 2; (m) is an integer of 0 to 3; Ar1 is a group represented by formula II (W is a 1-6C lower alkyl, H, a halogen, or the like), or the like; and Ar2 is a group represented by formula III (X is CO2H, CN, or the like), or the like), such as 2,4-dimethyl-5,6,8-trihydro-8-((2'-(1H- tetrazol-5-yl)(1,1-biphenyl)-4-yl)methyl)-7H-pyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidin-7-one. Such a compound represented by the formula I is prepared by subjecting a pyrimidine compound represented by formula IV (wherein: Z1 is an eliminable group; and R7 is a lower alkyl group) and an amine compound represented by the formula; H2N-(CH2)m-Ar1-Ar2 to condensation.
