To obtain the subject compound useful in organic syntheses as an intermediate for the production of a culture plant protection agent such as a herbicide, especially 1-pyridinepyrazole, etc.
This substituted trifluoromethylpyridine is expressed by formula I (R1 is amino, hydrazino, etc.; R2 is a halogen; R3 is a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6C alkenyl, etc.), e.g. 2,5-dichloro-6-methoxy-3-trifluoromethylpyridine. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a 3-halo-2,6-difluoro-5 trifluoromethylpyridine of formula II with ammonia or hydrazine in the presence or absence of an organic assistant base and a solvent and reacting the resultant 2-amino-3-halo-6-fluoro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine of formula III with an alcohol of the formula HOR3 or its alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt in the presence or absence of a base and a solvent.
