To provide a substrate for optical fiber alignment and an optical fiber array capable of advantageously preventing increase in transmission loss, damage, disconnection or the like of an optical fiber caused by stress concentration generated at a tip part of the optical fiber.
An optical fiber array is composed so as to array a plurality of optical fibers 14 in an arraying part 20 by providing an inclined guide surface 28 consisting of an inclined surface ramping on and extending up to the height of the depth of the groove 24 or higher between a supporting part 18 for supporting a plurality of optical fibers 14 and an arraying part 20 where a plurality of grooves 24 are formed from the bottom of each groove 24 toward the supporting part 18, and laying the tip part 33 in each groove 24 one by one while guiding the tip part 33 having the coated part 30 stripped off on each optical fiber 14 supported by the supporting part 18 by using the inclined guide surface 28.
