To efficiently set a bio-material as a solid phase on the surface of a substrate at a plurality of predetermined positions in an extremely fine size and interval of a μm scale in a state that the degeneration of the bio-material due to the effect of chemicals or heat does not occur or the splash of the bio-material to the periphery is eliminated.
A plurality of solutions W, which contain living-body-related substances that are mutually same or different and which can be converted to a solid phase, are formed at a plurality of the predetermined positions on the region other than a predetermined position of the surface 2a of a substrate 2. This substrate 2 for a biochip is equipped with a hydrophobic region 4 for repelling the solutions W and a plurality of hydrophilic regions 3 formed at a predetermined position of the surface 2a to be capable of converting the solutions W to the solid phase and formed so that the peripheries thereof are surrounded by the hydrophobic region 4. The biochip 1 manufactured using the substrate 2 for the biochip, the method of manufacturing the substrate 2 for the biochip and the method of manufacturing the biochip 1 are also disclosed.
