To provide a base material with a hard coat film further enhanced in the adhesion with a base material or scratch resistance, prevented from the adhesion of dust or the like and not lowered in product yield.
The base material with the hard coat film is composed of the base material and the hard coat film formed on the base material and characterized in that the hard coat film contains a matrix component and an inorganic oxide particle group wherein inorganic oxide particles are connected in a chain-like state so that the average connection number is 2-30. The average particle size of the inorganic oxide particles is 4-200 nm and the inorganic oxide particles are silica or silica-alumina particles being porous particles and/or hollow particles having internal cavities.
