Abstract:

To obtain a succinamic acid derivative or its salt exhibiting strongly inhibitory action on squalene synthase, useful for preventing and/or treating hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipemia and arteriosclerosis.

This succin amic acid derivative is represented by general formula [A1 and A2 are the same or different and are each a 4-7C bifunctional hydrocarbon group which may contain a substituent; A3 is a 1-4C bifunctional hydrocarbon group which may contain a substituent; A4 is a hydrogen atom or the like; a1 and a2 are the same or different and are each a single bond or the like; Q1 and Q2 are the same or different and are each a cyclic hydrocarbon group which may contain a substituent or the like; Q3 is a heterocyclic group which may contain a substituent or the like; and X1 is a carboxyl group which may be esterified] and its salt.
