Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3088787
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sucrase activity inhibitor containing tea polyphenols as active ingredients and free from fear of side effects.
CONSTITUTION: The objective inhibitor contains tea polyphenols (e.g. epigallocatechin gallate) as main ingredients and is used singly or by dissolving in a solvent (e.g. water or alcohol), or by mixing with vehicles, diluents, etc., or by adding to foods. When the inhibitor is administered as a medicine, the inhibitor is orally taken at an amount of 0.5-10g/day. When the inhibitor is used by adding to a food, its content is 0.01-2%. The tea polyphenols are obtained by a well-known method, using natural tea leaves as the raw material. Obesity can be suppressed while properly satisfying appetite by inhibiting sucrase activity and it is useful for treating diabetes mellitus.
