To provide a suction cup for sucking and carrying an article having large suction maintaining ability even when an air leak occurs between the suction cup and the sucked surface of the article and separation protective ability to lateral swing.

The suction cup 1 for sucking and carrying the article is composed of a small suction cup 3 fixed and opened around the lower end of a suction tube 4, and a large suction cup 2 fixed and opened concentrically with the small suction cup 3 around the lower end of the suction tube 4. The small suction cup 3 and the large suction cup 2 are composed of bellows type expansion materials. Since the suction cup 1 is composed of the large and small suction cups 2 and 3 doubly and concentrically opened around the lower end of the suction tube 4, the article S is sucked by both the large and the small suction cups 2 and 3. The large suction cup 2 performs the action of pressing the article S from the upper side around the small suction cup 3, so that the lateral swing of the article S sucked and held by the suction cup 1 can be prevented. Even when an air leak occurs from the contact surface of one of the large and the small suction cups 2 and 3 due to irregularity in the surface of the article S that is sucked, a suction air leak is compensated by the other of the large and the small suction cups 2 and 3, thereby a suction force can be maintained.
